Overview
Yellow Card is a cryptocurrency platform designed to make buying, selling, and sending digital assets simple and accessible across Africa. The goal of this project was to redesign the onboarding experience, focusing on clarity, trust, and reducing friction for first-time users. By streamlining the registration and verification process, the platform provides a more user-friendly entry point into the crypto economy.
Results
The redesign delivered a more intuitive onboarding experience that reduces confusion and potential drop-offs. Clearer instructions and improved screen hierarchy gave users greater confidence during registration. The outcome was a scalable onboarding flow that strengthens trust and positions Yellow Card as a more user-friendly gateway into cryptocurrency adoption.
Process
Research & Analysis: I reviewed onboarding flows of leading crypto and fintech platforms to identify best practices and common pitfalls. Insights showed that lengthy steps and unclear verification processes often led to user drop-off
Information Architecture: I mapped the onboarding journey to prioritize essential steps while removing unnecessary friction. This ensured that users could understand requirements and progress smoothly.
Visual Design & Style Guide: The final design introduced a clean, modern interface with clear typography, consistent branding, and improved error states.
Conclusion
This project emphasized the importance of clarity and trust in fintech design. By simplifying onboarding for Yellow Card, I was able to turn complex process into an accessible and approachable experience for first-time crypto users. The work reinforced my ability to balance regulatory requirements with user-centered design, creating solutions that are both compliant and seamless.
